On Tuesday in week two we are being leaders and spending the morning

Week One
Welcome back to Term Four! We
hope you and your family had an enjoyable and restful break. The Year Six
teachers have prepared some very exciting units of work for the remaining nine
weeks of the school year.
Term
Four Units of Work
This term in English the Year Six
students will be exploring different forms of poetry. The students will learn the features and
structure of a Haiku, Cinquain, Limerick, Free Verse and Couplet. After learning about each type of poem, the
students will construct their own version of these which will then be complied
to create an ‘Anthology of Poems.’
In History the students will be
looking at the contribution of individuals and groups, including Aboriginal
people, Torres Straight Islanders and migrants.
Each week the students will progressively complete a section of a
digital timeline, which showcases the contributions that individuals have made
to the development of Australian society between 1800 – 2000. The description of the contribution made by
each individual is expected to be succinct and historically accurate.
The third unit will be a Religion
unit. The students will be examining both
historical and modern day prophets. The
students will use a range of Biblical tools, such as timelines, Biblical
dictionaries and commentaries to learn about and make meaning of the Old
Testament texts. For assessment, the
students will write a profile on a chosen person who possesses prophetic
qualities.
Interschool
Sport
Interschool sport training and
games continue from Week One this
term. Training will occur each Thursday morning at school at 8am sharp. Students
are expected to be in sports uniform or bring their sports uniform to change
into after training. Competition games will commence on Friday 12th
October (Week One) at the same venue your child was travelling to at the end of
Term Three. Students are expected to wear full sports uniform to school and
only change into their jersey and correct shoes for their chosen sport at the
game.
